“Furni Russi” Tenuta is surrounded by a 12 hectare fig trees plantation: one of the most ancient and important fruit belonging to the local and regional agricultural tradition.
The 4500 fig trees planted in 2008 in “Furni Russi” Tenuta constitute the largest organic fig plantation in Europe. Our figs typologies are divided into 7 different varieties, all originally cultivated in Apulia and South Italy. The hetero- geneity guarantees the maturation of the product from June to September, blended to all the benefits of the pure organic agriculture.
“Furni Russi” Tenuta has recovered and planted a representative collection of almost all the original figs typologies belonging to the territory of Salento, thanks to the support of the botani- cal garden of University of Salento and to the valuable cooperation of specific experts in the agricultural business.
